Happy Fall, Y’all!

What do you think - can I start saying “y’all” when we move to North Carolina? By the time you are reading this I will have pulled out of Boulder and hit the road on the way to Asheville.

It is hard and terrifying and wonderful and invigorating to take risks and try new things. This move has really helped me feel a sense of ownership of my life. We can move, we can change careers, we can follow our dreams, we can make things work and pivot when they aren’t working. So much is in our power. That is feeling really good to me to remember and I hope you will feel that, too.

My wish for all of us this season is that we remember our ability to live how we want to live, and that we do just that. Here is your monthly dose of personal growth resources, guidance and inspiration:

Rough Beauty: Forty Seasons of Mountain Living

By Karen Auvinen

I am loving this book about a woman’s journey living alone in the Colorado mountains. After her cabin burns down, she starts from scratch with her husky, her truck, and herself. This book is all about connection to self, to others, and to the natural world. Here’s a bit:

Here, I told myself, was where I would begin. In settling down for the first time in my life, my commitment was not to a person but to a place. SelfHealers Soundboard Podcast Episode 5: How to Stop People Pleasing.

Listen to this podcast, and then listen to it again. Oh my goodness these ladies hit the nail on the head exploring why we people please and how to recognize when we are doing it. Most women I know have struggled from some version of people pleasing and/or little to no personal boundaries. This is such a good podcast to support breaking that pattern and to learn to listen to and honor yourself.

Write

Make a list of your goals for fall - personal, interpersonal and professional. Then identify your top 1-3 in each category and get even more specific on those priorities. How will you achieve them? How will you know when you have? What will it mean to you to reach them?

And don’t forget, I offer seasonal goal-setting coaching sessions if you need help! Contact me here to book.

Do

Clean out your closet and transition your clothes for the new season. Purge what you haven’t worn, what doesn’t fit, and what doesn’t make you feel like the best version of you. Pull out your fall and winter clothes and get them ready to go. Put together some outfits that make you shine. Buy only what you need to fill the gaps.

Ponder

How can I be braver this fall?

Wishing you a growth-filled October, friends!
